How to build a rotating shift schedule
A 12-on/36-off schedule starts a 12-hour shift every other day. A 6-on/1-off rotation repeats six shift starts and a day with no new shift. A 5-on/2-off rotation repeats five shift starts and two days with no new shift. To build a Monday-to-Friday rotation, enter a Monday as the first shift date.
The first shift date anchors the rotation. For a different pattern, choose Custom and enter the number of consecutive workdays and days off that should repeat.
How to check if you work on a specific date
After generating the shift calendar, use Look up a date to jump to the day you want to check. Mark it Shift or Off if plans change for that date. Use Restore cycle to clear the change.
For a 12-on/36-off rotation starting Monday at 7 p.m., the first shift ends Tuesday at 7 a.m. The calendar marks Monday as Shift and Tuesday as Carry. The next shift in the rotation starts Wednesday at 7 p.m.
How monthly scheduled hours are calculated
The monthly total adds up shifts that start in the displayed month and subtracts the break entered for each shift. For example, 15 twelve-hour shifts with 30-minute breaks total 172 hours and 30 minutes. A shift that ends the following month counts in full toward the month it starts.
How to build and share a team roster
Use Add person to set each team member's rotation, first shift date and hours. Open Team to compare schedules in the monthly roster. Choose a time and staffing target to see which dates fall short at that time.
Print the individual calendar or the monthly coverage view as a PDF. The CSV contains the entire team's monthly records. The calendar file (.ics) contains up to 12 months of shifts for the selected person, starting with the displayed month.
